As the new school year begins, I’m thinking about how to balance work and family life, especially with three kids—two in university and one in 7th grade. This time of year can be busy, but it’s also a chance to reset and find our rhythm again.
We just returned from a month-long vacation, where I had the rare chance to spend quality time with my family. It was wonderful to disconnect from my demanding job as the CMO of Gulf Bank and focus on what matters most—being present with my loved ones.
Now, as work picks up and the kids head back to school, finding balance becomes a challenge again. My job is busy, and so is family life, especially with the kids’ different schedules and needs.
To manage this, I focus on setting priorities. During work hours, I give my best to my team. But when I’m home, I try to be fully there for my family. Whether it’s helping my 7th grader with homework or talking to my university students about their plans, I make sure to set aside time just for them.
I also want my kids to see how I handle the demands of life. It’s important for them to learn that balance isn’t about being perfect but about making the right choices every day. Some days work will need more of my attention, and other days, my family will. The key is to keep things in balance and enjoy the moments when everything feels right.
